Assistant Minister for Mineral Exploration and Environmental Research
Hon. Oliver S. Gbegbe, is the Assistant Minister for Mineral Exploration and Environmental
Research at the Ministry of Mines and Energy. He is a professional with approximately seventeen (17) years of combined working experience as a geologist, environmental practitioner, project planner, and adjunct lecturer at the Department of geology of the University of Liberia with appreciable understanding of Liberia’s mineral sector, and possesses the ability to access and relate to stakeholders very well.
As an Assistant Minister for Mineral Exploration and Environmental Research at the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), he is the administrative head of the Liberian Geological Survey (LGS), and the Liberian Hydrological Service (LHS). Assistant Minister Gbegbe is dedicated to ensuring compliance to exploration regulations and promoting sustainable exploitation of Liberia’s mineral resources. In addition, he is dedicated to ensuring the effective management of the country’s water resources amidst the impacts of climate change and other environmental challenges.
His educational background includes Master of Science in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Ghana, Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Liberia, and diploma in Project Planning and Management, respectively.
