Let’s Prove that Liberians Can Change Liberia for the Better

JANUARY 8, 2025-MONROVIA: For diligently dedicating to assigned duties and responsibilities of positive change and reforms that reflect the overarching agenda of the Liberian government to not do ‘business as usual’, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, has received high recognition from the ‘Association of Like-minded Women of Liberia’.

 

In their brief remarks during the honoring ceremony held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Ministry’s Capitol Hill offices, Executive Director, Sarah Kamara, and Spokesperson, Prince Grandoe, said Minister Wilmot Paye has proven beyond expected benchmarks that he is a patriotic citizen who desires nothing less than the best for his Country [Liberia]. They pinpointed the massive renovation of the Mines and Energy Ministry’s central offices, and his administration prevailing on required policy and law reform processes, as well as restoring investors’ confidence in the mineral and energy sectors as remarkable achievements the new Minister of Mines and Energy has made.

 

They said in separate remarks that such important developments in less than one year of the government’s tenure could not go unnoticed by their organization. Executive Director Kamara, and Spokesman Grandoe, commended Minister Wilmot Paye for putting Liberia’s interest first in the rollout of the basic functions of the mining, and energy sectors by not indulging in unwholesome acts that were meant for personal benefits, and undermining revenue generation to support national development programs.

 

As a mark of recognition for distinguishably delivering on his national leadership mandate to serve the interest of the Liberian people, the Association of Like-minded Women of Liberia handed Minister Paye a sash bearing the national colors, and presented him with colorful electric petals {flowers), which the honoree onward presented to the Ministry, referring to the progress made thus far as a result of cohesive teamwork.

 

Further, in response to the women's group’s recognition, Minister Paye encouraged fellow Liberians to generate a positive mindset of possibilities in their [own] knowledge, skills, and abilities to make needed changes that present Liberia brightly among the comity of nations. The Mines and Energy Minister told the gathering, that refurbishing office facilities of the Ministry was necessary, but noted that it was not the only focus of his administration. He said, that whilst the renovation works were ongoing, the Ministry was also living up to its revenue generation obligation. Minister Paye disclosed that the Mine and Energy Ministry reached its target through the national budget process.

 

According to him, the Mines and Energy Ministry raised the targeted One Hundred and Twelve Million United States Dollars and surpassed that amount before the just-ended fiscal period. The Minister wants Liberians to rise up to the charge of taking their own institutional and national transformations into their own hands, and avoid relying heavily on outsiders to make Liberia a better place. Speaking of strategies to make this happen, Minister Paye called on national decision-makers to be insightful and innovative in identifying key areas of need and work with available resources to make the change required.

 

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the leading daily, The ANALYST Newspaper, recognized the exceptional manner in which Minister Wilmot Paye has performed as a top official [Minister] in the government headed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. He was also recognized similarly by another newspaper – EYES of the GLOBE, last Friday, and January 3, 2025.
