Ministry of Mines & Energy Liberia
May 7, 2025-Monrovia: The Ministry of Mines and Energy has now established a more pronounced presence in counties across the Country with the setting up of its Offices to provide services the Ministry offers at the head-office in Monrovia.
Speaking during the start of a two-day orientation workshop for the staff who will administer the affairs of the County Offices, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, called on them to be dutiful and committed to serving their Country with diligence amid associated challenges.
Minister Paye told the County Mine Officers, Mining Engineers, and Resident Geologists, that in order to transform Liberia for the better, public servants including the newly hired County Office staff of the Ministry (MME) need to stand up to challenging circumstances they may encounter whilst discharging their duties.
The Mines and Energy Minister urged all staff of the Ministry to stand up in order to radically transform the mining and energy sectors. This way, those the Minister termed as “bad elements” will stand alone and be exposed. The convening of the two-day orientation exercise and subsequent deployment of the Mines and Energy representatives in the various Counties brings to actualization, Minister Wilmot Paye’s plan to decentralize the Ministry.
This flagship program of the Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Mines and Energy is intended to make services of the Ministry available and accessible at the county level to ease the burden associated with long travels from distant locations to reach the Monrovia head-office by those interested in mining activities, as well as energy services. Senior Staff of the Ministry including Deputy, Assistant Ministers, and Directors from the departments of Operations (Mines), Energy, and Administration are facilitating the orientation workshop which is focusing on policy and regulatory frameworks of both mining and energy sectors.
