May 6, 2025-MONROVIA: All Mining Agents of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, on Monday began a week-long technical orientation exercise at the central Monrovia head-office of the Ministry.
The engagement with authorities of the Ministry is taking place under the supervision of the Department of Operations headed by Deputy Minister William S. Hines. During a brief induction ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Deputy Minister Hines welcomed the Mining Agents to Monrovia and thanked them for service to Country through their field work being done in their respective areas of assignment.
DMO Hines informed the Mining Agents that the one week interaction with them will among other things include refresher sessions to update them on their functions as the Ministry's representatives in ensuring that miners are encouraged to do business legally in respect of the Minerals and Mining Law.
Before the Deputy Minister's remarks, Assistant Minister for Mines, Carlos Edison Tingban, and the Director of Mines, Alwell Aloysius Carr, in separate comments said, the meetings with the Mining Agents is looking at effective ways of ensuring that the Bureau of Mines is up to the task in actual presence in the various mining districts by having staff whose discharge of their duties align with acceptable standards.
Assistant Minister Tingban, and Director Carr informed the Mining Agents that the exercise taking place this week includes assessing the performance of all Mining Agents, reclassification of Agents' status, and the signing of professional behavior bond that serves as a guide in ensuring high level professional service delivery by all Mining Agents. The interactions between the Mining Agents and their supervisors here in Monrovia concludes this Friday, May 9, 2025, during which it is expected that some key administrative decisions will be made.
