MINES AND ENERGY STAFF GAIN ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE IN EARLY WARNING SYSTEMS

… TO PROVIDE STANDARDIZED FORECASTING

MONROVIA – 11/24/2025: Several staff of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), mainly from the Liberia Hydrological Service (LHS), have completed four days of intensive training in early warning in order to prepare them to advance quality recommendations to the Liberian Government in addressing national disasters such as flooding and solutions in handling climate change issues, among others.

The four-day training courses focused on generating water levels data in order to forecast rainfall and other climatic conditions. The water resources management scientists and engineers were joined by colleague-employees from a few other units within the Ministry of Mines and Energy to benefit from the training facilitated by the Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency (NIHSA). The training opportunity was granted Liberia by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).
