MONROVIA - JULY 1, 2026: In order to properly position itself to appropriately implement projects under African Development Bank (AfDB) funding, two staff of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), have successfully completed a four-day training on the Digital Solution for Remote Supervision of Operation Projects (RASME).
Heli in Monrovia, the training was organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) Liberia office and the proceedings opened on June 22, and climaxed on the 25th of June, 2026. The participants included project stakeholders to strengthen their capacities in the use of a digital monitoring and evaluation (M&E) platform that will support the effective implementation and supervision of AfDB-funded projects.
Benedict Quato, Project Coordinator, and Madam Adaye Nyenuh, Finance Officer, made the Mines and Energy Ministry's representation in the intensive capacity-building program and they were awarded certificates upon the successful completion of the training.
The RASME software is expected to play a key role in monitoring and evaluating the upcoming AfDB-funded project aimed at the formalization of the Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) sector in Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The initiative seeks also to enhance project oversight, improve reporting, and strengthen accountability throughout the project duration.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy takes seriously the advanced knowledge its staff gained during the period of the training which is a big boost to achieving formalization of the Small-scale Mining sector. The Ministry (MME) commends the AfDB Liberia office for such a great partnership and assures the Bank and the public that the participation of Quato, and Nyenuh, is a significant step toward building institutional capacity and ensuring the successful delivery of the forthcoming ASM formalization project in collaboration with the African Development Bank.
