Strategic Goal

The strategic goal of the Department of Energy (DOE) is to ensure the sustained and equitable delivery of modern energy services and products. The Department of Energy DOE operates through several key government agencies, each with specific roles in the energy sector:

 

Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC)

• Role: Acts as the power regulator to ensure fair pricing, reliability, and access to electricity services.
• Objectives: Promote competition, protect consumers, and facilitate investment in the electricity market.

 

Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA)

• Role: Oversees the regulation of the petroleum sector, ensuring compliance with legal and environmental standards.
• Objectives: Enhance the sustainable development of petroleum resources and promote transparency in the sector.

 

Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA)

• Role: Facilitates and develops off-grid and renewable energy solutions.
• Objectives: Increase access to sustainable energy in rural areas, promote renewable energy technologies, and support community-based energy projects.

 

Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC)

• Role: Operates as the national power utility, responsible for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
• Objectives: Improve service delivery and expand electricity access to meet the needs of households and businesses.

 

National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL)

• Role: Engages in the exploration and production of petroleum resources.
• Objectives: Ensure the sustainable management of Liberia’s oil resources and maximize benefits for the nation.

 

Liberia Petroleum Refining Corporation (LPRC)

• Role: Manages the petroleum midstream and downstream operations, including refining and distribution of petroleum products.
• Objectives: Improve the efficiency of petroleum supply chains and ensure the availability of quality petroleum products.
